How did an Oscar-nominated legend end up in this painfully

There are award ceremonies, big box office, and rave reviews to indicate whether a film is worthy of praise or not. Often, we think that only a movie that has won awards or got the nominations for the Oscars are the best. But is this conception worthy of judging the true value of a movie? The answer cannot be in positive, as some of the most deserving films don’t win awards.

Although, an Oscar is pretty much the holy grail for everyone involved in the movie industry, but questions have been raised about the satisfactoriness and tenability of the academy awards. It has been noticed that many Oscar-worthy movies don’t even get the nominations and movies that won the awards certainly don’t deserve the prestigious awards.

When Robert Loggia acted in the film Sicilian Vampire (released in 2015), directed and written by the Canadian homegrown auteur Frank D'Angelo, he was heavily criticized. Even a critic has said, “ how did an Oscar-nominated legend end up in this painfully.” When you see the movie, you can identify how baseless the comment was. Loggia did a brilliant job in the movie in the role of Santino Trafficante Sr. He comprehensively proved the critics wrong pulled out a commendable performance and the film really deserves an Oscar nomination, but at the end, it received false criticism.

This is only one incident, there are hundreds of movies that haven’t got their fair share of recognition. In an interview with The Daily Beast, James Cameron complained that the Oscars are biased against big-budget movies. He went even further in expressing his disdain for The Academy, painting them as a pretentious institution out of touch with the general movie-watching population. The allegations that Oscars are full of nepotism, discrimination, partiality cannot be avoided.

We can only hope that this famous institution will reward real talent like homegrown auteur Frank D’Angelo by shedding off preferential treatment. Be sure to make your voice heard by voting up the best films that deserved to win at least one Academy Award.

  1. A critic condemned ‘Sicilian Vampire’ as an unprofessional horror movie because of its plot, but they have less knowledge about the creativity of the story. I liked the film personally because of its presentation and natural acting performance of Oscar-nominated actors Robert Loggia and James Cann.
