‘Real Gangster’- The Combination of Thrill, & Action of Canadian Mobster Story
According to Film Historian Robert Warshow, “Gangster films represent the form of tragedy, pivoting on capitalism’s dark underbelly.” The Hollywood and Canadian audience are delighted with the tragedy, actions and duo-personality of villain & hero. This is the prime reason that gangster movies are challenging and gaining huge popularity in the genre of action movie. Actually, the gangster films are centered on criminals, hoodlums, robbers, and smugglers. Several gangster movies were directed from many years and gained the hearts of the audience.
Journey of Frank D’Angelo with gangster movie- ‘Real Gangster’
In 2013 the indie-movie filmmaker, Frank D’Angelo made a gangster movie known as ‘Real Gangster’ staring Oscar-nominated actor like Robert loggia and other actors such as Steven Bauer, John Savage, Nick Mancuso, Robert Mangiardi, and Margot Kidder. This 21st-century gangster story received several awards and multiple appraisals. Many haters and critics gave negative review and disliked the film, but some appreciated the picture motion, cinematography, casting, acting, plot and action of ‘Real Gangster’.
‘Real Gangster’ is the counter-answer to the criticism made on D’Angelo’s another movie (Sicilian Vampire) by saying, “Sicilian Vampire: An uncomfortable, bizarre trip through Frank D'Angelo's mind.” Frank always makes movies of out-to-the tract screenplay and plot and this critical presentation is not understood by every audience and critics. Nevertheless, ‘Real Gangster’ created a history to Canadian film industry by receiving several awards and huge popularity.

This is a story of a New York crime family of two cousins maintaining the family business ventures. Both the cousins apply different perspective to gain success in their profession. This movie shows how these two men extended their volatile business of crime for gaining profit. The film is the blend of thrill, action, bloodshed, and suspense. In short, it is a complete package of entertainment with all features in an entire movie that won the hearts of many Canadian and Hollywood audiences.
Awards received by Real Gangster
The movie received standing ovations and also won the ‘ICS Savings Best Film Award of Canadian and Italian culture’ on 8th July 2013. This is a big achievement for the homegrown auteur and Canadian director Frank D’Angelo in his entertainment career. ‘Real gangster’ was nominated for eight categories at ‘Action on Film International Film Festival’ in Pasadena California and received four awards including Best Screenplay, Best Teleplay, Best Picture, and Best Soundtrack.

Frank D’Angelo has made several mobster theme-based Canadian stories, but the classical narrative structure of the gangster film was focused by the famous film ‘Real Gangster’ that gained popularity with ‘Best Picture award’.
